Setting Out

Tonight is the night I head out to embark on my adventure over seas. With ready hands, I will land in a foreign country, to work for a month with a medical team assisting street children. It's surreal to think that it's finally here.
I am excited, and nervous! Last summer's experience in Africa was much different than the work I will be doing this summer, so I really can't have any expectations.
I know that God is going to move in ways that I would have never dreamed, and many hearts, including my own, will be changed. I discovered last year, that the power of the Lord is overwhelming and awing.. and I can only imagine that this year will be no different; I will be put beside myself in the midst of a remarkable Father.
Not only am I excited to go overseas and help share the love, but I am also excited to see the country, experience the culture, and truly get to know the people. I know that it will be a process, but I am determined on leaving a mark on the hearts of the people I meet there, as I am beyond sure they will leave a mark on mine. I know, already, that the country and scenery will be absolutely breathtaking, and I will be documenting as much as the country and culture as I possibly can while there.
I will be sure to keep everyone updated as much as possible.

This is Jamie, Leslie and I will commit to praying for you on your journey to Thailand. I can sense your passion and desire for the Lord and His heart for the people you will be encountering. May He use you in ways so far beyond yourself you will KNOW it is HIM! There is nothing like being used by God. It is my greatest joy and the most alive sensation in this life. Keep track of those "God moments", "God sightings" because just as they are sure to come, there are sure to be moments when it will be dark and lonely, times of testing and trial. He is still there, but you will not see Him. Trust Him in all things and for all things. He is your Provider. I love you little sister! Your friend and prayer partner in Lodi!

I'm very happy for you, Leslie, and quite proud, too. The Lord is working powerfully in your life. When you were just a little girl it was obvious that you would achieve great things in your lifetime. Keep up the good work. You're well on your way. You will be in my prayers. Please stay in touch.

I'm Leslie. I'm 18. I will change the world.

Since I was a small child, I have had a heart that reaches out to others. My heart yearns to be one of service, integrity, and loyalty to the Man upstairs. Even as a child I can remember reaching out to others, encouraging growth in the knowledge of who Jesus Christ is. To this day, my world revolves around taking His love to people who have never encountered it before. Although there are so many souls in my own country that need the hope of Christ, I can not help but be drawn to the field over seas. I have been fascinated with Africa since elementary school. Last summer, for 6 weeks I endured an intense mission trip changing my life forever, and fueling the ever increasing flame in my heart to work with people overseas. This summer, I set out for Cambodia. I will take my ready hands to a different battlefield, and for a month, work endlessly to change the lives of as many people as I can with the help of God. I have experienced miracles, I know the power of the Holy Spirit, and though ready, will be awed by the inevitable movement of God, as He stretches me, uses me, and pushes me. I will fill every unforgiving minute of every day running, enduring, and loving, in His name.
